Is Human Intrinsic Factor from humans?

No! But it is human-derived because it is produced from the gene that makes human Intrinsic Factor.

Instead of sucking out the stomach juices from humans and making a 'concentrate' containing IF (which was the practice about 25 years ago), the Xeragenx technology inserts the gene for human IF into a common plant bacteria  and once inside the plant cell, transfers the human gene to the plant DNA pool. It took about 10,000 experiments by molecular biologists to do this successfully. But they did, and the result is that the plant that was 'transformed' to carry this human gene, and now, under proper growing conditions would express the protein in their leaves, roots and stems.
